Fast forward 8 or so years to the 1984 New York Kitchen Gourmet Show.
The first day of that trade show she had just finished working with a department store buyer at Jacob Javits Center, and was waiting to catch the shuttle to the 225 5th Avenue Building to meet with another buyer. Out of the corner of her eye she saw a tall, lean man running in her direction. She paid no attention, after all, it was NY, lots of folks with strange behavior there!!!
Suddenly, the tall and lean runner gathered her into a NY backbend kiss. Her mind was spinning! Someone had just grabbed and kissed her on the street in NY!!! Why was she not afraid??? They resumed composure, and yes, it was Mr. TX. It was their first kiss. They hadn’t had contact for at least eight years. The shuttle was honking, the folks on board were cheering toward the kissing couple. The couple agreed to meet after their respective appointments.
They met, more eye-contact, and grinning. A little bit of hand-holding. She was getting married in six months, he was going back to Texas. She would not be unfaithful to the future plan of marriage.
Yet again, she knew, somewhere deep inside of herself, as unlikely as it seemed, that she would have contact with Mr. TX again, somewhere, sometime.
